30 Sphinx AC runners completed the last of the 2013 club handicap races, with Mark Moran winning the coveted award for being first over the line. Ashley Miles ran the fastest time, spurred on by some last-minute competition from the Wheatley children! Conditions were warm and bright, and the course was slightly different to last year, requiring just one marshal (Andy Bagley!). Results for Sutton Park road relays, 21-Sep-2013

Eight women and six men represented Sphinx AC at the Sutton Park road relays yesterday. The women’s relays consisted of four women per team (so we had two teams), each running 4.315 km = 2.68 miles. The men’s relays consisted of six men per team (so we only had one team), each running 5.847 km = 3.63 miles, though 3.68 was Garmin’d. Conditions started off quite mild but quickly warmed up with direct sunlight beating down over most of the course.

Sphinx AC were represented today at a smaller number of ParkRuns than of late, but we collectively still managed to secure four top-ten places and a handful of PBs. Coventry 26 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 3 PBs. Friend of Sphinx, Danny McKeown, won the race outright and Sphinx had three other runners in the top ten. The McSharry family continue to improve, as do the Wilkinson juniors, both securing PBs today.
