Ashley Miles and Andrejs Blakunovs both finished second in their respective categories, both sealing their positions as overall category winners for the entire series. Sheila Carey carries olympic torch

Sheila Carey carried the olympic torch today in Warwick. Sheila looks as if she’s absolutely LOVING it! For that don’t know – Sheila represented Great Britain in the 1968 and 1972 olympic games and is sister-in-law to Sphinx AC’s own Bob Carey. There were really not very many people there until just a few minutes before the start, then people started to appear from all directions. The organisation was quite informal, just like Coventry, but lacked any finish desks so it was unclear to a newcomer (like me) where to go at the end.

The second race in the summer series took place on Thursday 28th June, in total 46 runners took part including 3 guests. For the first time since 2009 there were 4 times below the 30 minute mark with the fastest run of the evening from Ashley Miles in 27:40. The winner of the handicap was Mick George who finished in 40:36, 19 seconds clear of Tony McCarroll (37:55). A special mention goes to Lorraine Gordon who estimated her finishing time of 45:00 exactly.
