7 Sphinx runners completed the 4th race in the Grand Prix series.
Helen King and Laura Pibworth-Dolinski completed this trail half-marathon around the Shropshire hills.
Congratulations to Andy McIntosh on a PB on his 100th parkrun. Congratulations also to Barry Allen on a new PB at Coventry and David Brewis on his 50th parkrun.

Prestwold hall park (Loughborough) was the venue for this years midlands counties xc championship, and for the first time in 5 seasons sphinx are able to field a complete team in this event, thankyou and well done to everyone for running in what turned out to be a brutal men’s race, with bad weather, a really high standard of competition and the fact they over measured the course by nearly 2 mile meant for a long day out for everyone,
Well done to David Brewis and Pawel Langer on finishing 2nd and 5th respectively at Coventry, with David going sub-19 and bagging a PB. Elsewhere, there were PBs for Andrew Hales and Colin Piper at Market Harborough and Rugby respectively. Aslo at Rugby, Lore Paterson notched up his 50th parkrun.

Not always that keen on races hosted by ‘Event Companies’ rather than recognised running clubs, but this wasn’t bad at all. If you are familiar with the EMGP Blisworth 5, read on, otherwise the next sentence will be absolutely meaningless. The course started and finished exactly where the Blisworth 5 commences, i.e. at the farm buildings, but instead of running downhill into Blisworth then uphill out again, you pick up the EMGP route right outside the farmyard, follow the same road until Gayton, then, instead of turning left, you take a right and do a complete anticlockwise circle north of this village before returning, and then turning right into it to pick up the last 4kms of the EMGP route. Hilly, frosty but sunny and a very well organised event with a medal at the end – and you could buy a t-shirt with all the runners’ names on it for £15 (no thanks!). The one unusual facet of the race – and a running first for me – was that the kilometre markers counted DOWN to the finish – this proved to be disconcerting initially, but a little bit more motivational (though not too much) once you were in the second half.
PS – By the way, today’s 5K event was won by 2016 Olympian Laura Whittle in a time of 16:45!
A crisp parkrun morning proved to be PB conditions for David West as he powered to a new best at Coventry – well done! Elsewhere, Colin Piper and Imran Ali were first-timers at Rugby, and Vicky Brewin was a first-timer at Northampton.
