Seven Sphinx AC runners ran as guests in this light-hearted relay race. Teams of three runners, all of different abilities, ran this 3.2-mile course which included the horrible slope in Hawke’s Mill Lane. Teams were handicapped or advantaged, depending on their abilities. The last of the Thursday evening handicap races took place over the traditional 5.2 mile course with 37 runners taking part, including 4 guests. Alan Patrick showed he is back to the form he showed earlier in the year by crossing the line first in a time of 36:51, a minute ahead of the second placed runner, Emmet Torley (52:23). Third over the line was Manveer Sahota (37:24), one of 3 juniors who took part in the race.

13 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and no PBs. Ashley Miles won the race outright and Sphinx had four runners in the top ten. Chris Foxall’s sister, Heather, ran in a bride’s veil as today is her wedding day! The change of venue was forced by the “Big Fun Run” event in the Memorial Park. Did the Indian Queens half, 30th Anniversary of the event. As ever a warm day for tackling this challenging (but picturesque…put that in for Mitch’s benefit) mainly off road run which was surprisingly muddy with plenty of pot holes and puddles on the course due to overnight rain.
