5 Sphinx AC runners made the trip to Brackley in Northamptonshire to run this friendly 10K race. A mixture of road and trail, a disused airfield (with an extensive range of pot-holes), a couple of steep climbs and the quaint village of Turweston makes this one of the more interesting events of the race calendar. A very well-organised and well marshalled out and back course with a technical T-shirt and goody bag offered excellent value for money (and nothing extra to enter on the day).

This was Pete Hall’s 100th ParkRun, and Mitch Timms collected his spanking new “100” running top, having earned it a few weeks ago. Results for Banbury 5 (EMGP), 11-Jun-2013

14 Sphinx AC runners made the trip down the M40 to Banbury for the fifth event of this year’s EMGP Series. The rain held off and running conditions were perfect. The Banbury course is an undulating circular route with a tough climb around the three-mile mark, but a long flat one mile run-in along the main road. Congratulations to Ashley Miles on yet another M40 category prize and seventh place overall.

Mary Bench represented Sphinx AC in this 22 km (~14 mile) off-road challenge in the lake district. Mary had the option of doing the 11 km but – being a true Sphinx – scoffed at a mere 11 km and plumped for the 22 km version instead.
