Four Sphinx AC women made the journey down to Cheltenham for the last of this season’s Birmingham League XC events. Sphinx AC were represented in three ParkRun events this weekend, all a bit wet and windy! Coventry 27 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and 3 PBs. This was a great day for Sphinx juniors/children – Robyn McSharry was first female finisher, and they got all the PBs of the day! Participation in other ParkRun events, plus XCs in the afternoon meant that we had fewer runners than normal.

5 runners from Sphinx AC took part in this tough and hilly 14-ish mile cross country/fell race in Leicestershire. The course was extremely muddy as you might expect following the recent bad weather. Nine Sphinx AC runners ran the fourth of this season’s races, with Ashley Miles winning the race outright. Rob Wheatly and Luke Makins also triumphed in the raffle! The conditions were pretty bad, with large puddles and sloppy mud on several stretches of the course. A submerged pothole caused Janine to twist her ankle, forcing her to withdraw from the race. Despite the shocking conditions, Sphinx AC were well-represented at various ParkRuns this weekend. Coventry 32 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and 1 PB. Conditions were like a bad year at Glastonbury, with a lot of sloppy mud and a huge puddle near the railway line (which enforced a small diversion). Being the fourth “birthday” of Coventry ParkRun, this run was fancy dress, with people encouraged to run in their pyjamas.
