Fourteen Sphinx AC runners ran Britain’s most famous marathon. Conditions were considerably warmer than had been forecast – direct sunlight for most of the race and no showers. Ashley Miles and Kyza Derby take first and second place, with the Wilkinson brothers taking eigth and nineth places – four Sphinx AC runners in the top ten. 16 Sphinx AC runners took part in this popular event, which marked the start of the 2012 Warwickshire Road Race League. An early start meant cool weather conditions and ensured some fast times over a twisty course with a deceptive hill around the golf course early on. Congratulations to Ashley Miles on finishing second overall (first veteran) and to Jackie Stuart and Sam Wooding on their distance PBs. Also, well done to the brothers Andy and Ian Wilkinson and Paul Slatford on the debut wearing of their Sphinx vests – you have finally arrived gents!

Four Sphinx AC runners infiltrated the first of this year’s Northbrook handicaps, which had to use an alternative venue due to road works on Brown’s Lane. The run was at Coundon Park (3.25 miles, completely off-road) and conditions were abysmal – it was freezing cold, windy and raining. Janine Miles and her dad (George Wilkinson) came along to support and take photos but it was too grim to get any decent shots.
