29 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 3 PBs. The work on the pathways within the park continues, which forced another ad-hoc course today (3.23 miles). The good weather may have been a factor in attracting another record number of runners – 433 finishers were recorded. Seven Sphinx AC runners ran as guests at the first of this year’s Northbrook handicap races. These races are all run over the same 5k course, usually on the first Wednesday of the month from April-September inclusive. The course heads north along Staircase Lane and Coundon Wedge in Allesley, making the first half mostly uphill. The second half is a lot faster, as you get the advantage of the downhill stretch down Brown’s Lane.

Four Sphinx AC runners took park in this 40-mile off-road challenge around the Coventry district. Conditions under foot and weather wise were almost perfect. There was still some snow lying in places, but only Corley Moor presented any real muddy conditions.

Results for Belvoir half marathon, 07-Apr-2013

Ten Sphinx AC runners ran this delightful run in the Leicestershire countryside, with Fiona Quinn and Christine Thomas both making this their first half marathon. Conditions started off a bit chilly in the wind but soon warmed up beyond what we’ve all been used to of late. The venue and organisation were superb and the course is pretty flat (though not entirely – there was quite a rude slope at mile 7!

At least 22 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 1 PB. There may have been others but it looks from the official results that a large number of finishers weren’t recorded for some reason. Whilst conditions were finally more spring-like, unexpected pathway maintenance forced a change of course. Many runners ran a more leisurely pace due to other activities over the weekend (A Coventry Way, Regency 10k, Belvoir Half, Wolf Run).
