Sphinx AC were represented at multiple ParkRun events over the weekend. The searing heat and the prospect of Northbrook’s 10k event the next day explains the reduced numbers and more relaxed times. Coventry ParkRun was cancelled this weekend due to the Godiva Festival. Did Sphinx AC take a week off? Fat chance – we took this as an opportunity to spread the Sphinx AC love to other events in the region. Braunstone (Leicester) 1 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and no PBs. 5 Sphinx runners made their way to Desford for this 7 mile road race in the Leicestershire countryside, an event organised by Desford Striders. Unfortunately only 4 of us finished, with Ash having to retire with a foot injury after 3 miles (he did do his first mile in 5:09 though!). In very warm conditions Quentin Henry finished an excellent third in 44:45 and Mitch Timms was 17th and 2nd M55 in 52:29.

Ashley Miles and Mitch Timms represented Sphinx AC in the inaugural running of this event. The winner finished in an impressive 71:47, with Ashley Miles finishing 3rd overall and first veteran. Janine Miles and Fiona Quinn ably supported! Results for Milton Keynes 10k (EMGP) and series, 02-Jul-2013

Milton Keynes 10k 10 Sphinx AC runners made their way down the M1 for the last in this year’s EMGP Series, the Milton Keynes 10K. This event has to be one of the highlights of the annual running calendar (not!). The Milton Keynes course is at best non-descript; grey and geometric, it is a series of paths and underpasses with 90 degree turns, starting and finishing in a field. It is however a popular event, mainly because it’s prize-giving night.
