The Championships were organised by Sphinx Athletic Club and held on Wednesday 10 March 2010 at the War Memorial Park with some tremendous results. Five Sphinx AC runners completed the course in some very respectable times. Apparently the course was pretty flat but very twisty and turny. 3244 people finished so to have all of our runners home in the first 45% of the field is a great result. Although we had a bit of poor turnout at the final fixture of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross-Country League at Perry Park with only 11 youngsters running, they all ran well with Ellen Bollard in the U13 girls and and Jamie Cozens in the U17 boys picking up trophies for both coming 6th overall in their age groups which is a fantastic achievement. It was cold, it was wet and for some of us it was a bit hard to find (you know who you are!). A three mile handicap or “pace race”, where we estimated our finish times and the winner was the person closest to their estimate.
