The 2013 series of club races kicked off out at Grandborough on Sunday 28th April in blustery conditions. Despite the chilly weather, there was a record turnout of 32 runners taking part including new members Colin Piper and Andy McIntosh. We also had 9 other runners who were running the course for the first time.
As always trying to estimate accurate times for the first race is tricky, to say the least, and so it proved as Mark Coyle ran away with the race winning by over 3 minutes from Mary Bench who managed to hold off a fast finishing Mitch Timms. Quickest run of the day came from Ashley Miles who completed the course in 28:00, just 7 seconds outside his own course record. There were also sub-31 minute runs from Andy Lovelock (30:39), Quentin Henry (30:49) and Andy Wilkinson (30:50). Our joint ladies captains, Laura Pibworth and Fiona Quinn, both recorded new personal best times for the course.
The next race is over a 5.5 mile course at Brinklow starting at 7.00pm on Thursday 16 th May so there will be no training that night at Copsewood club.
