Results for the Headley 5 Mile Fun Run, 01-May-2017

By Rob on May 8, 2017

Thanks to Alex for the following report:

I did the Headley 5 Mile Fun Run in Hampshire with my sister Vicki and brother-in-law James on the May bank-holiday Monday. It was a 5 mile cross-country race through a hilly wood, so was hard work. Vicki came 3rd female in her age group and James came 3rd male in his age group, which they were both really happy with.

I did it in 37:45, which isn’t bad, considering the course and that I had Silverstone 10k the following day. It was an enjoyable race all round, with all the spectators really encouraging everyone, and the free chocolate and drinks at the end were appreciated.

Thanks to Mitch for the following report:

Yet another superbly well organised event today. Cool to start, but soon warmed up. Great support on route, especially on the lap around the town. Five water stations and plenty of water for those doing both laps for the full marathon. Talking of which, bumped into Hamilton at the start and Jackie and I ran the first 4 miles with him. He was having a ‘rest day’ today, just doing the full marathon, following his recent spate of midweek ultras. Lost count of the number of times the mere glimpse of a blue and gold vest prompted the question “Where’s Imran today?”. Fortunately, on this occasion, I knew the answer, as he was doing the Lichfield half marathon, thereby joining Jackie and myself in completing 8 races in 9 days (just over 56 miles). Well done mate, I’m sure your ‘Bookface’ public will be delighted at your achievement J Time for a rest now……

Btw, interesting medals, picturing Puck, the hogoblin in Act 2 Scene1 of Shakepeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and citing his quotation “I’ll put a girdle round the earth in forty minutes”. Good quiz question that……
