The weather was wet, cold and windy and 18 Sphinx runners started the weekend with 5km.
Our ladies battled the windy conditions as they competed in the second of four cross-country league fixtures.
The 3rd fixture is at Gloucester on 16th January.
5 Sphinx runners made the trip to Warley Woods to compete in the 3rd round of the 5-round season. Conditions were challenging and they all did themselves and the club proud.
The next fixture is on 17th January at Burbage Common, Nuneaton.
The turnout may have been affected by the Sphinx Christmas do having happened the preceding evening but that didn’t stop Mitch and Jackie taking first place in their categories. Well done to both.
We have no confirmation as yet whether Lisa did as well at the post-race raffle as she did at the Christmas do raffle.
8 Sphinx men made the trip up the M6 to Aldridge Airport compete in the second round of the cross-country league season. The weather conditions were dry but very, very windy. Allen went from 5th counter in the first fixture to first home for Sphinx – a great improvement in a month!
Thanks to all the team; thanks to Wayne, Allen and Colin for driving, and thanks to Nick for the photo. The next fixture is at Droitwich on 16th January.
Andy Wilkinson notched up his 250th parkrun and donned fancy dress to do it in style. Well done, Andy.
Brew yourself a cuppa and get comfortable as we have a bumper report from the annual Club La Santa, Lanzarote trip.
We had three PBs at Coventry – Lore again improving his time, Imran going sub-24 and Will going sub-22. Well done to all.
Lore does it again! 6 PBs in his last 6 parkruns shows great improvement and has seen his times tumble from 28:16 to 25:28 in the last 5 weeks.
Ian Cunningham has sent in the following race report:
I completed the Beacon Trail Half Marathon on Sunday in 2hours 10 minutes 10 seconds finishing 185th out of 295 finishers.
The event was in the Beacon Hill Country Park Leicestershire.
A two lap course within the country park which the race organisers describe has several fast down hill descents or as Runners world describe a very tough course.
All I can say is that I was completely knackered at the end and still have sore legs 24 hours later.
