Well done to Rachael Allen, Louis Carver and Andrew Hales on their PBs last weekend. There were also a lot of first-timers last weekend as the O’Briens went to Ipswich, Vicky Brewin was at Mile End and Lore Paterson was at Bexley.
Mitch and Jackie Timms joined Tom Marchi at the third race in the Police and Services XC league.
It seems that there were other races on Sunday other than the excellent Coombe 8. One of those races was the second race in the Tempo Winter series, taking place in Ilmington. Allen and Kevin completed the course.
Thanks to James Abrams for the following report:
my first half trail run and a great testing course climbing Leicestershire 2nd highest point beacon hill(that’s the 1st Mile too,so no getting into your rhythm here!)not many flat sections.2 Laps and a great goody bag super chunky medal and a bottle of tiger beer.
Thanks to Steve for the following report:
At the same time as the Combe 8 was taking place Sue Gough and Steve Court, junior team coaches were at the 2nd junior x country meeting at Warley Woods in Birmingham. A slightly disappointing turnout out of 7 juniors made the trip and ran their hardest on an undulating but scenic course. Very well done to all runners and supporters. Next meeting at Perry Park 11th December
With the Coombe 8 on the Sunday, there were a few people taking it relatively steady at parkrun. At Coventry, it was Alex Bartlett’s 150th parkrun, complete with a unique t-shirt amendment!
Elsewhere, the O’Briens were first-timers at Gunnersbury, and Louis Carver was a first-timer at Daventry and set a new 5k PB and achieved almost 80% age-grading!
Barry and Rachael Allen completed this trail marathon, set in the beautiful Gordano Valley near Bristol – taking in coastal paths, woodland and many beautiful views. Well done to both.
9 (10, including chief-supporter, photographer and captain: Fi) Sphinx women made the relatively short trip to Leamington for the first race of the cross-country league season. The club are 18th out of 26th after the race and the next fixture is on the 3rd December at Welcombe Hills, Stratford on Avon.
Thanks to Wayne for the following report:
So it’s that time again, when the summer handicaps are fading into the distant memories, the 1st xc league race is upon us , for the first time the league split the divisions, so only Sphinx ladies got to sample newbold common this time as Sphinx men made the short trip up the m69 to Burbage common,
At great turnout for the men in blue & gold, with 13 running, with xc league debuts for Michael and Kev ,
With Michael having a great run finishing in 32nd place and the first Sphinx home followed by Allen only a few places behind, strong runs also for Dave and Colin ,
Well done to all that took part today which has given us a good start for the season, which hopefully we can follow it up in the other races,
The next league race is Plock court , Gloucester on Saturday 3rd December, yes its abit of a drive , but we will have a good social day out anyway, and sample some of another county recovery beers
