Thanks to Steve Court for the following report:
6 hardy souls plus coaches made the hour long trip to Northampton to take part in the latest West Midlands Junior Cross country league, numbers were down in general due to the nasty wet weather on the day. The course was a good test of cross country skills as the course got sloppier and muddier as each race progressed, this was reflected in the times which were slower than previous events. Congratulations to all 6 who all ran well despite the conditions. One last meeting at Wolverhampton on 12th February. See you all there – Go on, you know you want to!
Thanks to Wayne for the following report:
10 Sphinx made the trip along the M42 to Droitwich for the 3rd league race. As the snow didn’t turn up but recent rain, we where left with a bit of a swampy 3 lap course . Although all our race photos have taken place in the recovery pub, there has been some great racing throughout the season and here was no different. With the benefits of a Tuesday sprint sessions coming into play with 100 m to go Imran took off at full speed and successfully chased down his opponent on the line.
The standard of the league has got higher with each race and we have still been very competitive and still holding onto 7th place overall out of 19 teams.
The final race of the season is on Saturday 11th February, details to follow later
With Coventry parkrun cancelled due to hazardous frosty conditions, tourism was the way to get that parkrun fix. Well done to Hamilton Ngan on his PB at Rugby, where Steven Osmond was a first-timer. Other first-timers included the Carvers at Arrow Valley and Vicky Brewin at Stratford-upon-Avon.
