Jackie Stuart nabbed first-in-category, Pete Hall and Mike Wall were in the second-placed team and Fiona Quinn demolished her 5-mile PB. Results for Burton Green handicap, 09-Sep-2012

Due the rain back in April the first attempt to run this handicap race along part of The Greenway between Burton Green and Kenilworth had to be postponed. But finally and in ideal conditions we were able to use this route. This race is totally different from any of the others in the series, as it is off road on a “there and back” course, not the usual circular route. Although the nearest car park is about a half a mile from the start this didn’t put off 31 club members from turning out to enjoy the Sunday morning sunshine.

2012/13 Centurions’ grand prix series dates announced

Centurions have announced the dates of this season’s popular 5 mile race series – with news of a new course. The announcement was made on this page on their website: http://www.centurions.org.uk/grandprix/index.htm Due to serious erosion of the footpath between the start and Cooks lane, the first three races will be run on a new course. We hope to revert back to the old course once the footpath has been repaired which is anticipated to be sometime in December/January depending on the Department of the Environment and the weather.

25 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 4 PBs. Conditions were quite warm, especially on the second lap, but this didn’t deter the punters – today was either highest or second-highest number of finishers ever (the official stats don’t appear to be consistent*). Sphinx runners were quite conservative today, presumably due to the handicap tomorrow. Gerry Anstiss helped out today as he’s doing a half-marathon tomorrow.

3 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and 1 PB. Kyza Derby won the race outright! Junior Annie Cox narrowly missed out on a PB. Her mum, Susan, was timekeeper and described the event as “sunny but rather hilly”.
