13 Sphinx men made their way to Aldridge Airport, Walsall to compete in the second race of the Birmingham & District Invitation Cross Country League, Division 3. There were good individual performances by everyone and, once again, Andrejs and Ash took 2nd and 3rd place respectively, but the A team finished 6th for this race and sit in 5th place in the division.
The next league fixture is on the 10th January in Droitwich and is a combined fixture with the Midlands Women’s League.
A group of Sphinx runners travelled to Club La Santa in Lanzarote and competed in the International Running Challenge. This consisted of 4 races on 4 consecutive days; 10k road race, 13k ridge run, 5k beach run and 21k road race.
11 Sphinx Ladies travelled to Abington Park in Northampton to compete in race 2 of the Midlands Women’s Cross Country League.
With cross-country league fixtures in the afternoon, numbers and performances were curtailed to some extent. Imran Ali bagged a PB at Coventry and closes in on sub-25.

Andy McIntosh, Narinder Bains and Jane Edwards completed this half-marathon in Derbyshire.
Steven Osmond celebrated his 100th parkrun and there were PBs for Imran Ali, Pip Carey, Judith Anstiss and Chris Foxall. Well done to all!
Gerry and Judith completed this popular northern 10k race.
A number of Sphinx juniors ran well in this competition that was held at Keresley Grange Primary School. James Spraggett ran in his school’s (Coundon) ‘A’ Team which finished 17th out of 34 schools who entered the race. He was the first of their runners to finish and was placed 68th out of between 180-200 competitors, many of whom were a year older than him. Daniel Metcalfe ran for his school, St Christopher Primary in Allesley.
