Results for the Oakley 20, 03-Apr-2016

Thanks to Steve Court for the following report:

7 Sphinxes ran this tough 20 miler in good weather. Course very undulating, not easy but 20 miles done

There was also plenty of other reports – the following from Lisa:

Oakley 20 miler done and dusted in 3 hours and 13 mins. Last 3 miles were absolute torture. Nearly started crying at mile 17, laughed hysterically at something unfunny at mile 18 and contemplated throwing myself under a truck at 19. Somehow managed to finish after almost taking a wrong turn a 19 and a half. Hanging up my long distance laces. Not even a medal for my efforts but nice hoodie. Enjoyable day with the team!

And Helen:

Whoo hoo Oakley 20 done! Would love to say that was easy but I’d probably be struck with lightening lol

And Mark:

Oakley 20 kicked my ***!

Results for the Mash March Madness 10k, 05-Mar-2016

Jackie Stuart reports on a recent race:

On Saturday 5th March I drove over to Cannock Chase to take part in the first of a series of 3, 10k trail runs. Each run is held at a different place on the Chase; the next two are in June and October.

This was a trail run so the ground was very uneven, all covered in stones, mud and water. Fortunately it wasn’t raining but it was extremely cold. My toes and fingers were numb before I’d even started. I joined the start line and saw Jayne. After some instructions from the organisers we set off.

I had decided to take it very carefully because I’d sprained my ankle during the week and it was black, blue, painful and swollen; any sensible person would have decided not to run – but hey, how many runners are sensible! Once I got into the run it eased and I was able to complete the route without stopping.

I’ve already signed up for the next two runs, and from the entry list I see that Jayne has too. Why don’t you join us!
