February 10, 2018

Thanks to Kev Naughton and Craig Pears for the following race reports:

This is a fell race of approx 14 miles and follows public footpaths, open country involving 1200 feet of ascent over Bradgate Park, Broombriggs and Beacon Hill country park. Weather on the day was ideal…dry, bright and fresh. Conditions under foot very tricky with lots of mud. All effort in going forwards seemed to go either sideways or backward! 304 finishers….in the main Leicester Clubs Only 2 x Sphinxies participated…. 1..Kevin Naughton…position 171….Time: 2.16.07..3rd in Class 2..Craig Pears…position 284…Time: 2.48.03 If you are able to get an entry for 2019 this event will certainly challenge you.

Craig pears and Kevin Naughton took part in the bowline charnwood hills race is a great race around bradgate park and the surrounding areas of Leicestershire covering a distance of 14.5 miles. The weather was good on the day, nice and bright, not too warm with not too much wind. However the weather leading up to the race had been wet leaving the course really muddy underfoot and hard work. That combined with the terrain, hilly, makes this event quite testing. It is a great race organised by the Bowline climbing club, however if you want to enter you need to be quick as the places sold out in less than 15 minutes. Kevin Naughton completed the course in 2:16.07 and Craig pears in 2:48.03
