London Marathon 2019

May 1, 2019

Congratulations to Ann, Rachel, Claire, Sergio, Darren and Pawel on taking part in the VLM. Thank you to Ann for the following write up

I ran the London Marathon on 28 th April 2019. The whole experience really was amazing. The lead upto the Marathon was a challenging and a great experience. The early 5 am 20 mile training runs proved difficult through the winter training in all weather conditions. The lead up to the Marathon was just as exciting. The visit to the Expo Centre on the week was such a fun experience with Clare and Rachael from the club. Even though it was my third year in a row race itself was amazing as ever. Having five Sphinx members run it made it even more special. The crowds were fantastic cheering and supporting every step of the way. Seeing our Sphinx team supporters on Tower Bridge was a highlight. It got very tough at mile 23 and my legs felt like didn’t want to go any further. It really was mind over matter and nothing prepares you for pain you experience. The crowds definitely got me through the difficult times. I managed to finish in 3hrs 32 minutes which was a personal best for me. I ran to raise money for Myton Hospices which is a charity personal to me. In total raised £900 which really chuffed about which made it all worth while. I would definitely recommend anyone doing London Marathon and I have memories to last me for a life time.

Results from our runners are Rachael Allen - 4:37.43 Darren Hallet - 4:02.13 Pawel Langer - 3:06.34 Ann Mosby - 3:32.08 Clare Taylor - 4:59.09 https://results.virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/2019/?pid=search#
