Results for the Seagrave Wolds Challenge, 07-Nov-2015

We have the following report from Mitch:

Today’s ‘alternative’ cross-country saw 5 Sphinx runners tackle this 15.8 mile off-road event. Very muddy conditions underfoot early on across the farmers’ ploughed fields, but otherwise standard multi-terrain conditions, with an initial 2-mile stretch on the road. Usual hazards, including crossing the A46, dashing across the railway line, bulls in fields and the customary stiles, gates and electric fences all added to ‘The Challenge’. The normal gourmet pitstops enroute and fabulous home-made soup and crumble dessert at the finish make this a must-do event; a real shame it clashes with Newbold XC every year.

Well done to Lore Paterson, once again setting a new best at Coventry in difficult conditions.

Also at Coventry, we had Andy Wilkinson and Paul Slatford battling it out for a top 5 finish, and Sue Gough was on the core team that organised the parkrun.

The Anstiss family completed the Norwich parkrun – hope it was not as wet as Coventry.

Results for the Draycote Water 10, 25-Oct-2015

Whilst Wayne, Trevor, Jamie and Lisa were chasing sausage at Ilmingtion, Pete and I went to Draycote Water to complete a two-lap, 10-mile race in good conditions. There was no need for any warm-up as there was quite a trek to get to the start line.

It was a good run out, was organised well, and we were both satisfied with our times. There was no sausage in the goody bag so we had to make do with the standard offerings.

Results for the Tempo Events Winter series 15-16 Race 1 (Ilmington 10k), 25-Oct-2015

We have the following report from Wayne:

4 Sphinx ran in the  1st event of the tempo events winter series. The course took in part of the Hilly 100 leg 9 with a massive climb only half mile from the start, so after the lungs fell out it was time to settle down for the rest of the route around Ilmington and after that climb we we rewarded with a very long downhill back to the village . And a pack of sausages were handed to you at the finish as a  race momento, which is a new one on me.
