Eslewhere, Vicky Brewin was a first-timer at Worcester, as was Alex Bartlett at Woking.
In the parkrun competition, we now have our semi-final line-ups: Wayne Broadbent v Pete Whitehouse and Anthony O’Brien v Andy Hales.
8 Sphinx runners completed this race near Banbury and the consensus was it was hot and hilly!
Plenty going on for Sphinx runners at Coventry parkrun last Saturday. Congratulations to Vicky Brewin for a double achievement of 50 parkruns and a PB! Congratulations also to Barry Allen, Paul Carberry and Imran Ali on PBs, and Will Robertson and Amarjit Singh Randhawa on 100 and 250 parkruns respectively.
Also, I understand that Wayne saw off the challenge of Pawel in the parkrun challenge and has advanced to the semi-finals.
32 Sphinx runners completed this popular and challenging 10k race, which is part of the WRRL and also our club 10k championship race where the first man and lady win the Bagley trophy. Well done to Catherine Gough on being first lady.
The nest WRRL race is the Stratford 6 on Saturday 22nd July.
The Godiva festival meant no Coventry parkrun but did mean that parkrun tourism went into overdrive, with Sphinx first-timers in Cannock, Leamington, Rugby, Brueton and Pollok. Well done to Craig Robinson on a PB at Leamington and Kev Naughton on a PB at Daventry.
There was a great turnout at the 4th annual Sphinx relays, with sunshine, food and a bar, what more could you ask for?
Thanks to all the clubs that put out teams and supported this event, we hope you enjoyed it! A big thank you to all those involved in organising, from setting up the course, registering teams, timing, marshalling etc. as the event wouldn’t be possible without you!

Away from Coventry, James Abrams was a first-timer at Rugby and Vicki O’Brien was a first-timer at Thetford.

Well the threatened rain stayed away while the 4th handicap race was underway. 43 runners started, with 42 finishing, which included 2 guests and 1 junior.
The race by won by Andrew White, for the 2nd time this season. Fastest man was Rob Wheatley and fastest female was Catherine Gough who was squeezing a quick run in, between graduating on Wednesday and going on holiday on Friday. The beauty of this race is that after starting everybody off, we can watch you all pass us about halfway round. It is amazing to see how much the gap has decreased by the last to first starters.
The next race is on Thursday 3rd August at Corley.

Mitch and Jackie Timms enjoyed a wet 10k race around Milton Keynes to round off the EMGP series. Rumours that this was an early wedding anniversary treat from Mitch to Jackie are unsubstantiated at this point 😉
In the series overall, Tom Marchi was 1st in his category, Jackie Timms was 4th in her category and Mitch Timms was 10th in his.
16 Sphinx juniors competed in three disciplines and acquitted themselves well. The 3rd Quadkids meeting is on 10th July at Warwick University Track in Coventry.
