Another excellent Sphinx AC turn-out with 14 runners making the trip to the sleepy village of Weedon in Northamptonshire for the penultimate race of this season’s EMGP.
Fortunately for the six Sphinx debutants in this event, the course had been completely changed this year to the flattest 10K they are ever likely to do.
If only that were true! Still the same circular route, still the same relentless hills, still the same sting in the tail at 6 miles. There is nothing flat about Weedon; you are either going up or coming down, nothing inbetween.
However, despite this….
- Max Kmicic incredibly beat his Silverstone 10K PB by 1:14
- Ashley Miles won the M40 category prize, secured the M40 series prize and threw in a course PB by 28 seconds for good measure
- 2nd and 3rd places in the M55 category for Kevin Naughton and Ben Orme respectively
- Course PB’s for the Timms’s; Jackie by 2:44, Mitch by 1:10
- And finally, last but not least, congratulations to Tom Marchi, who finished 1st in the M70 category and secured the M70 series prize
Thanks to Tom for driving and to Janine for taking the silliest photos of the series (so far).
The last race of this year’s series is at the dreaded Milton Keynes course (next Tuesday 2nd July). Now I know it’s an awful race and a long painful drive to get there, but I am definitely going, just to see Ash and Tom get their series’ prizes. I hope you can join us.
