Sphinx AC were represented in three ParkRun events this weekend, all a bit wet and windy!
Coventry
27 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and 3 PBs. This was a great day for Sphinx juniors/children – Robyn McSharry was first female finisher, and they got all the PBs of the day! Participation in other ParkRun events, plus XCs in the afternoon meant that we had fewer runners than normal.

It’s been a while since I’d last run at Brueton, but with a friend wanting to try parky for the first time and him living in Shirley, it was a good opportunity to head over there. The course was, unsurprisingly, very wet, with large puddles at the loop near the pond and sloppy mud adjacent to the bag store (tent). The field was larger than I ever remember it, but it must be commonplace now as they’ve introduced pens at the start in an attempt to thin out the course and reduce collisions and congestion. The run itself was largely uneventful – it’s a very flat, two-lap affair. Mitch was painfully close to matching his course PB but Fiona ensured that we have a splash of yellow by beating hers.
* Gary Haddon is unlikely to join Sphinx but I’ve included him here just for completeness.
Little Stoke (Bristol)
The Foxalls were in Bristol this weekend and represented Sphinx AC, joined by Chris’s sister and her husband. Their presence in the district was for an run in Weston that was sadly cancelled due to the recent flooding. Wendy did us proud and nabbed a course PB.

Little Stoke parkrun for us today. 25.48 little stoke PB for me, Chris 26.26 (running with Heather). It was the winter route so three and half circuits on Tarmac with the wind in your face for half of each one but sunny!
Durham
Catherine Gough ran this weekend in her university town.
