  • Note that there were some of us unhappy about the way that the times were measured. Due to the large number of runners, we were issued with chips (to wear around our ankles) and we assumed that it’d be a normal “chip timing” affair. For some reason, the times recorded were from the time the gun was fired until the time you crossed the line, as per a normal race. The ankle chips were NOT used to record actual running times.

Unaware of this, many of us casually kept to the back of the field at the start, assuming that we’d be able to start running at the (non-existent) mats at the start line and our chip time would accurately reflect our actual running time. After a minute or so walking forward, it became obvious that we’d missed the start line and that normal chip timing wasn’t in effect. To reflect this sitation, personally-recorded times have also been included.

And yes, Mitch and Bern finished at the same time, hand-in-hand. It was beautiful.
