Milton Keynes 10k
10 Sphinx AC runners made their way down the M1 for the last in this year’s EMGP Series, the Milton Keynes 10K. This event has to be one of the highlights of the annual running calendar (not!). The Milton Keynes course is at best non-descript; grey and geometric, it is a series of paths and underpasses with 90 degree turns, starting and finishing in a field. It is however a popular event, mainly because it’s prize-giving night.
And, on that subject, congratulations must go to ‘The Volcano that is Ash’, 2nd M40 on the night and overall M40 series winner; in the eight races he won the M40 category prize four times and finished 2nd on the other four occasions. Further congratulations to ‘Uncle Tom’ Marchi, who won the overall M70 series prize, winning three events in his age category outright and finishing 2nd on two other occasions.
Course PB’s on the night for Wayne (by 2:34), Fiona (by 5:16) and Janine (by 56 seconds) and a 10K PB for Wayne as well (by 29 secs).
Final mentions to Messers Naughton and Orme who finished 4th= in the M55 category final series standings.
Roll on 2014….
