Mitch Timms provided this narrative:
The last race of the EMGP series saw 10 Sphinxees travel down the M1 to Milton Keynes. The best description of this urban route was that it was non-descript. A labyrinth of paths and underpasses, starting and finishing in two different fields. Flat though, which enabled Luke Makins to smash his previous 10k pb by a good couple of minutes and an ideal introduction to this distance for Fiona Quinn, well done both. Congratulations to The Volcano that is Ash and our competitive comrade, Andy Blanket (the results’ announcer struggled somewhat) on their performances on the night and their respective series awards in the M40 and Junior M20 categories, tremendous achievements both. Final mention to Justin Smith who came from nowhere and surreptitiously (one for the vocab book Andrejs) took the final series award, 4th in the M40 category, well done mister. Worth mentioning too that we were third MV team in the overall series. A late night ensued with the statutory diversion following the closure of the M1, well it just had to happen didn’t it…. Final thanks to all those who have driven to these events and for the patience of the passengers! All petrol expense claims should be made in writing to the Treasurer…..
