2 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and no PBs.
The area around the course was snowy but the paths were clear. Both of us wore spikes in anticipation of slightly worse conditions than we encountered and the spikes probably worked against us.
This is really friendly event, quite a bit smaller than Coventry and definitely recommended. The race HQ is at the pavilion at Newbold Coymn, so there are toilets and showers and somewhere dry to leave your bag. The volunteers also serve up squash, hot drinks and the all-important cakes in the pavilion after the run. The run itself is 95% off-road and doesn’t take in “heartbreak hill” or the ditch of doom. Newbold being Newbold – if the ground is wet then you will get muddy!
