5 Sphinx runners made their way to Desford for this 7 mile road race in the Leicestershire countryside, an event organised by Desford Striders. Unfortunately only 4 of us finished, with Ash having to retire with a foot injury after 3 miles (he did do his first mile in 5:09 though!). In very warm conditions Quentin Henry finished an excellent third in 44:45 and Mitch Timms was 17th and 2nd M55 in 52:29. Jackie Timms and Pete Morgan came home together in a very creditable 61:04. The course itself was challenging with a nasty hill at 6 miles and a longish off-road track at the 5 mile mark. A nice friendly/homely event, well marshalled and organised. Only £7 to enter on the day, no prizes for the winnners, but a medal and an interesting goody bag containing ’Next’ aftershave or perfume to all finishers (put that in the future raffle prize donation draw then).
