Mitch Timms contributed this narrative:

10 Sphinx AC runners made the trip down the A14 for the fourth race of the series at Corby. Race HQ was in the beautiful grounds of East Carlton Country Park, with magnificent views across the “undulating” landscape. The route itself started two-thirds of the way up the hill just outside the park, climbed a little further then dropped away severely for the best part of a mile and half. It then levelled out for a mile or so prior to the proverbial “sting in the tail” which was a steep ascent of the initial hill for circa half a mile before branching left and finishing back in the park itself. Congratulations to The Volcano that is Ash on 6th position overall and 1st M40 (28:15) and to Andrejs BBQlakunovs on 15th position overall and 1st M20 (29:42). Also well done to Amy Frank on completion of her first EMGP event in sub-50 minutes on what has to be the second toughest course of the series. Our 2 hour journey home was uneventful (“what goes on tour stays on tour”). There is no race next week as there’s some sort of “do” going on, but if you are not running the Sphinx AC Summer 5 then Banbury 5 is next on the agenda on Tuesday 12th June.
