A great way to spend a Bank Holiday – 26.2 miles off-road in the countryside around Stratford-upon-Avon. Cold but bright with almost perfect conditions underfoot. 2*4.4 mile loops following the Avon and Stratford’s Recreation Ground, starting and finishing at the Carriages cafe on the Stratford Greenway. Tea, squash and coffee back then a 15 mile circuit back to Carriages race HQ, with a pit-stop in somebody’s front garden half way round for biscuits, squash and milkshake. Finally, 2.4 miles round the racetrack, before finishing back at the cafe for soup, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. Embroidered towels and engraved shot glasses for all participants. Times, totally irrelevant, but congratulations to Steve Colbourn who finished 7th, despite a total of just 3 hours’ sleep in two nights due to the demands of the lambing season.
