Just one Sphinx AC runner ran this snow-covered, off-road run at Newbold Comyn. All other local events had been cancelled due to the widespread black ice.

My shoe came off at about the 1-mile mark, losing me about 20 places! At around 2.5 miles, I broke a plate of ice covering a large puddle and my trailing leg got caught on the breaking ice, causing me to fall into the puddle and get covered head-to-toe in mud. I had to choose between driving home in soaking wet mud or having a cold shower at the pavilion – I showered in freezing cold water.
